Battle of Golymin

December 26, 1806

As the French chased the Russians across Poland, they attempted to catch the Russian forces at Golymin. Prince Galitzin commanding the Russians put up a strong fight as more and more French troops arrived on the scene and attempted to surround him. Once night fell, Gallitzin was able to escape the trap despite being mostly surrounded. Afterwards, both armies went into winter quarters.
